What would you pay for a SuperSport-only package?

Why do we keep having these surveys? MC hasn't changed their stance over the years and probably never will. Why would they only want to get half the milk from the cow? Move over to the dark side of streaming people.

Because the forumites are always screaming for sports package without all the other crap. At least now there are some reasonable statistics on the table. MyBB's influence is increasing steadily (see other story today on monthly hits) and DSTV would do well to take note.

Where can I find good quality (SD is OK) rugby streams?

I do wish they would stop lying about it though, they don't bundle everything up for the benefit of the consumer.

MC doesn't care. They're coining it already. Not going to change because of a handful of people who want a better deal.

Hmm, I wont pay R187 p/m for just Sport. I only watch Rugby, Cricket and motor sport. Not fussed about soccer etc.

Not going to happen until there is some decent competition in SA. And competition is not going to happen until people stop supporting the monopoly.

All monopolies are exposed to the risk of disruptive technologies. In this case it will be the likes of Netflix. The people on this forum are the first adopters for this kind of technology. There is a very good chance that a streaming service may outbid MC for sports rights in the near future. I am sure MC is keeping a very close eye on what is being said here!

More interest in Motorsports than Soccer? If that doesn't tell you the myBB demographics, nothing will...

Hmmm. I noticed that too.
But is that so different from the DSTV Premium customer demographics? I don't think so.
I haven't seen any DSTV stats, but I am willing to bet that the majority of premium subscribers prefer at least rugby and cricket over soccer. Perhaps even motor sport. And the % difference between motor sport and soccer is small anyways.

What bugs me most is that Monochoice says that sports rights are so expensive and these costs are cross subsidized. But why the VACK do they give a certain demographic the pleasure of having soccer on a cheaper package (Compact) but yet expect rugby lovers to get the Vaseline out and pay the maximum for the premium subscription in order to watch any rugby?!

I think the demographics would show that people who watch rugby are generally in a different LSM. The same reason local rugby match tickets are so much more expensive than soccer.

Did you know Pubs and Bars get a sports only DSTV package.

Commercial packages are actually more expensive than private ones, so although they get the sport only, they pay more. They can probably not show movies, because then MC would be competing against theatres.

Supply and demand.
