I have been in contact with www.lightspeed.co.za many times during the last 8 months. They are only waiting for R 10,000 per month client base in Alberton to roll out FTTH. They are now offering very good packages for 200Mbps symmetrical lines for R599 or R 899 per month. Go check out the website. I have registered my interest many times with them.
If there are any other Alberton residents or businesses that want FTTH, please send me your details so I can compile a list and send to them as soon as we reach R 10k p/m. Please also register your interest on their website so they can see the need in Alberton.
If the community works together we can get fibre internet in Alberton. Telkom has not been doing anything. Two years ago I was getting 3.6Mbps on my 4Mbps ADSL and now I am down to 2.2Mbps. I have complained with Telkom many times and had the techs there probably 8 times already and nothing is being done about it. They have also been telling me since then that 10Mbps is "in the pipeline" and we are 2 years down the road already. I don't think Telkom has what it takes to supply South Africa with fibre.
