FNB Mobile Coupons and Vouchers launched

You couldn't pay me to shop at Shoprite or Checkers.

That's what I thought but because of eBucks I have been going to Checkers and have been pleasantly surprised. Most of my Woolies spend now goes to Checkers. Most, not all, products are on par and cheaper.

Interesting. I'll have to check it out. I've had terrible experiences at Shoprite, but Checkers seems to be a bit more up market than Shoprite. Although I have to admit I'm a die-hard Woolies fan.

I've always felt the hierarchy goes like this:

Working Class / Low Income - Shoprite
Middle Class - Checkers / Pick 'n Pay
Upper Middle Class - Woolies

Bottom line is I get a similar product at Checkers compared to Woolies and it costs less. Woolies still has the edge but not by much anymore. A prepared meal at Woolies is typically R55 compared to Checkers at R40 for the same thing.

I also get 15% back in eBucks at Checkers and their liquor store which counts for a significant % of my eBucks earn.

A Coca-Cola Or Handy Andy is the same in every store. I may understand meats etc

That said, also buy everything at Checkers and 'get' 15% back... And then buy a Makro voucher at less 40%

I've been going over the 20% max of total earn at Checkers, so what I do now is buy whatever I want at any shop then buy the same value Checkers gift cards at a 40% discount, I use them for a portion of the month. I earned basically the same this month as last month doing this, you just need to run a spreadsheet to see your percentages (downloaded csv).

During the day, I'm posh - so it's Woolies (read "convenience"). When I do my weekly grocery shopping, I bump down a level to middle class :D

For me its Pick N Pay as it has meat available.
The not so close Checkers is Halaal, and the Shoprite, heck I don't even know where my closest Shoprite is.
We do have a Spar though, and thats also Halaal, as is the nearest Spur.

Bloody Cape Town...

Well i like this idea, and the discounts on ebucks is a good additional benefit

Its such a pity that different Checkers stores can be so wildly different in terms of quality.

The Checkers in Hillcrest is pretty damn awesome, but the one down in Pinetown is an absolute shytehole.....
