R20 to the US dollar is on the cards

When they say on the cards, makes it sound like someone is going to single-handedly decide, "R20, that's what its going to be today"

We're ****ED.

SA imports most of it's consumables we only export Raw minerals and a few food stuffs.
No way our economy will survive if this keeps going up.

now that is depressing, 1998 is also the year when the end started in Zim it seems, inflation cracked 50% for the first time (never to come back down) and by 2000 it was 100 ZWD for 1 USD and the land grabs went full retard

if the ZA:ZIM correlation holds we've got a crises coming within the next 2 years :(

And that's why it's not a bad idea to save up some **** you money, and look at immigration options. Just so that you've got something once crap really starts hitting the fan.

I recon I might just trade in all my shares and transfer the cash to an international $$$ account.

2yrs from now is the anc elections? If Zuma goes full retard before the elections and tries to hold on I think the currency would drop faster than it is now

As crazy as I might sound... I'm actually considering storing value in Bitcoin at the moment. It is on a upward swing from a bottom out, and its value is tied to the USD at sale.

no I wasn't referring to any specific event, just the correlation on that table between ZA and Zim. The Zim side of the chart ends in 1998, which correlates strongly with ZA's 2016.

and Zim went from bad to crisis in the years from 1998 to 2000, which means if our 2016 is like their 1998, and the correlation in that table holds, we will go from bad to crisis in 2 years or less (2016 to 2018 as opposed to Zim's 1998 to 2000)

Not saying it is guaranteed that the correlation stays as strong as it seems to be, but IF it does, we're fornicated in all orifices ...

if storing value is your goal and you'd rather avoid the roller-coaster ride that is Bitcoin there is another currency that has been steady and is even now keeping pace with the USD's ride up ... it weighs 1 troy ounce, and is legal tender in South Africa with the word "Rand" in it's name even, made from a shiny yellow metal with Paul Kruger's head on it
