Massive South African Internet outage

It started yesterday already

It started yesterday already with Routing issue through NAPAfrica's Cape Town peering.

My guess is they tried to fix it, and made it a lot worse

Seems more than just connectivity, DNS lookup also fails for some international websites (e.g. news.bbc.co.uk).

Edit: A friend says some users are affected, others not.

My Afrihost connection seems to be working fine.

Edit: As I posted that I experienced packet loss. Damnit.

2nd edit: Seems fine. No real issues browsing the net.

Just got off the phone with EOH/AfricaINX. WACS has a cable break and there is some issue with SEACOM.

My international is completely buggered. Local still works but at dail-up speeds.

And from Mweb:

Outage No: 109998 - We are currently experiencing major international link failures affecting all international traffic. Seacom engineers are urgently attending. Further updates will follow on this platform as available.

Trouble started yesterday already from around 18:00.

Vox down completely, telkom mobile still working.
