So a group of fans in the States have set up a Battlefield 2142 server including unlocks, leaderboard etc. The server is in Texas, and a New York server on its way.
Ping from SA varies between 150 - 300+ (on Telkom ISP) but I am enjoying the gameplay regardless. You may not be able to beat the fastest draws but you there are plenty of support and strategic roles to play, especially in Titan Mode.

If you have lost your original disc there is a torrent available on KAT. EA Games stopped supporting this game years ago.
Number of players still small but growing fast. Varies from 5 - 36 with most players online from 8 pm SA time, and co-op mode with bots when the player numbers are low. This Twitter account tells you how many players online through-out the day.
Alternatively watch the action on Twitch from AirJerr's Battlewalker.
Some of the players are on Teamspeak (server details at http://dethklokclan.enjin.com/), and you can also get help with installation on Teamspeak from around 9 pm.
Use the clan tag [ZA] to identify Saffers.
