Vodacom bundles should be used in expiry order, not activation order

I am a prepaid customer.

* I bought a 3 Gig once-off data bundle 15 April, expires 15 May
* 1 May, my 2G bundle, expiring 1 July, is activated, 1.5G left on bundle above
* Data now comes off the 2G bundle, and my 1.5G data will expire unused, 15 May
* I will run out of data this month, and have to buy another bundle

22.Vodacom data bundles follow a LIFO (Last In First Out) order of consumption. The last bundle to be purchased, activated or allocated will be the first bundle to be consumed and then any other available bundles in chronological order.

Obviously, they *should* use bundles in expiry order, not reverse activation order.

Are there any tricks I can use to suspend my recurring bundle, or send it to another number, so I can access the 1.5 Gig remaining on my once-off ?

That's why I don't have any monthly bundles and do it completely manually.

But if you buy upfront you get 6.1c / MB for data - half the price of monthly bundles

Had a similar experience with Cell C. I had 552 MB left of a normal bundle and decided to move over to the dataextenda bundle. The 552 was expiring midnight so I thought I would be able to finish it off before I started using the 1gig dataextenda I had bought. Turns out I immediately forfeited my 552 and started using up the 1gig even though it hadn't expired yet.

Just one of the many tricks that Vodacom uses to screw over its customers.

+1

Telkom mobile does the complete opposite. Your data even rolls over for an extra 30 days.

Why people still pay more for no gain on Vodascum beats me.

Voice bundles and data bundles are consumed LIFO. Which effectively means that you can never roll over with a 60 data expiry window. You have to first use all the current months bundle to use your last month bundle( that expires at the end of the current month).

This is theft. Perhaps mybb should wright an article about this. As far as i know Vodacom is the only one that does this.

Fully agree. Theft.

I get 1gig data a month then top up if I need more. On 1st of month the 1gig starts running irrespective of how much is left from the previous months top up. 30 days after top up it expires if not used

This is why I only put 250mb or 500mb prepaid bundle on my Vodacom phone every month, and have a 8" tablet with 1GB of data per month for R89 with Telkom Mobile. I then use the 8" tablet as a wifi hotspot (and the battery easily lasts 2 days if it has to, I charge it every night, unlike those mifi devices with like 8 hours) that lives in my backpack and the tablet can roam on MTN network if it has to, and if I get low on data I can load easily and cheaply and that data only expires at the end of the next calendar month.

Mine seems to be eating my old bundle before changing to the new one expiring next month
.

I now bought a 1G bundle (8 May) after my monthly recurring bundle was activated (1 May), but it is not being used

I asked Jannie about this and he said "Watch this space"

I am attaching a screenshot. (the one above)
The first bundle, Data 1GIG, was bought (and activated ?) 8 May 2016.
The second bundle, MBB 24 Month 2GB, activated 1 May 2016.
Why is my first bundle (as per below point 22), latest activated, not being used ?

As per subject line, Bundles should be used in expiry order (like milk).

Who else must I talk to ?

And this morning I happen to check my data bundle before leaving for work.

500MB free.

Cool lekker, easy week left for the month.

Get to work and get an SMS to say Data depleted. Boom it's gone...so is all airtime.

**** you Vodacom.

This archaic notion of your airtime depleting is just crazy. The Data bundle I can deal with, but then it should cut your APN access off or something, not just chow all your airtime.

So glad I'm not on contract at least.

Are you on top up ?

I'm on topup and I have set my preference to not surf out of bundle.
