I've been waiting patiently with what little money I have saved to buy AMDs new tech. I am praying the Rand stabilises or improves in the next two months! It makes me cry that the last time I bought a graphics card that $200 would work out to about R2200 here through suppliers. Now $200 more than likely to equal R4000, probably more because of the new tech premium.

Spoke to some guys at pc international they said they would have it between R4000-R4500 because of shipping costs. I have been waiting for something like this for ages I have a Radeon 7770 and to get something slightly better I gotta pay ridiculous prices.

This will more then lightly be my next card

Waiting patiently on the PowerColor variants from Wootware. Those are the most realistic priced cards on the market.

Yep waiting for this also....a $200 card at GTX980 performance and only 150w max is almost too good to be true...

Also have a 7770. Want to make a purchase this year as I doubt things are going to get better for the Rand. I think this card will last me about as long as my 7770 has so if it comes in at about 4k I'm happy to buy.

Even still R 4 500 for a 980 level card? It's cheap.

Jirre, and you guys complaining about having to NOW only pay R 4 500 :o :D

You have had many years to save up you bastards!

True, although as a wise man once said....." if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I can still play Fallout 4 and CS:GO, so I am happy. :D

I'm exactly the same. But when I do need to buy, I tend to buy the best I can afford to last me a good few years. My last purchase was the 9 290 and that should be good for a good few years.

HA !! Can you believe it.......
And I almost bought one off Carbonite a while back...

Lucky you didn't go through with it. AMD changed the way they named their cards for the HD6000 series. I'm sure many people fell for this. HD5870 is even better than HD6870.

I have a 6870 and its still decent. Doesn't look like I'll be able to play the witcher though so I'll be looking to upgrade to something like this.

I read that this morning too, it just doesn't seem right. Maybe for the first few weeks but I'm pretty sure it'll drop down then.

Consider the price of the MSI GTX 1070, here it costs R9k and the Amazon listing is $450 - that's an exact 20x ratio. If we take a $250 card in the RX 480 and basically do the same (not perfect but a good enough test) then it should be R5k here.

If it is R6k here then I'm going to get from Amazon directly.

Does it come with a big tub of vaseline?

That GPU should come in at <R5k.

They need to make it viable, somehow, to move old stock, 1070’s and 1080’s. But, yah, they will apply the vaseline with the invoice.
