DStv launches Muhammad Ali channel

Just a question...

Where does DSTV get this content...

There is a lot on youtube, but DSTV won't download youtube videos and then publish it on Pay TV would they...

I don't see the issue here, I asked a honest to God question. He died this morning, is there just some archive you can dig up with all the stuff.

Where do they get it?

ESPN will have everything on Ali. Will probably be showing his boxing matches , history , where he grew up,interviews... ON REPEAT!!!

Okey, see now that makes more sense.

So they will just show stuff they DSTV aired before, but on repeat for a few days for example?

Where do you think they get their content they show everyday? Torrents? The Ali content would be bought from the same distributors who hold the rights, just like any other content.
 
jissie. so these channels are easy and free to create and broadcast? cool.

did old mandela get a channel when he went?

Didn't know international negotiations, deals, content schedules and payments happens in a matter hours on Saturday.

The broadcaster will already have done most of that in advance as they will have agreements with all the rights holders in place, they are buying rights all the time for segments or programs, the video will be on a server somewhere and a price for single use/multi use will be shown. The broadcaster then buys whatever use it wants and gets the video.

Why would you think it was any more complicated than that?
 
I don't really understand what the fixation with the dead guy is. There are/were many other people much more special than him.

You don't have to watch the American media.

And if you want to understand who he was, read up on him
