There is absolutely NO BENEFIT to the customer. They don't even give you free minutes or free on net airtime nothing. Just a flat fee increase but they branded it MTN Base.

Shame on you MTN!!!!
 
Is there much of a hassle involved in porting an Mtn prepaid number to Cell C?

Hardly make calls these days and thanks to Axxess data still works out cheaper staying with MTN, if that changes then I'm off to TM, maybe investigate porting my current pre-paid number to a third multi-SIM on my month-to-month SmartBroadband Wireless and enabling voice on it...
 
I am somehow getting the feeling that MTN is the first to pull the trigger and the others will follow soon with their increases.

Not so sure. We already had a price increase last year. I think this is purely because of the fine.

Guess we have to wait and see. But if the next active users/subscribers numbers come out and MTN hasn't suffered much, they will follow suit
