Uncapped fibre data for R144 per month

How "uncapped" will it really be? In other words, what's the catch?

Tons of catchers. https://www.axxess.co.za/docs?tab=terms#tc-10

"Home Uncapped services are managed according to the last 7 days usage projected to 30 days as well as the available capacity on the network at all times."

Premium is subject to shaping. Home uncapped is subject to shaping and throttling. Business has neither. I feel like Afrihost and Axxess have missed the point of fibre.

Edit: Seems like Business and Premium are still subject to throttling, with no data threshold amounts stated.

LOL. Will be throttled, capped, limited, shaped to sh it.

You will be getting exactly what you are paying for - nothing more and nothing less.

You get what you pay for - no ways you pay for a Skokoro Mini, and get a new Masipa Benz SL500 ...

No catch as far as I can see. It's like they say...

Home Uncapped Fibre
If you're not planning to stream data hungry videos, or download large files, then this service is great for basic browsing & email.
Never worry about how much data you use.

Nice for my dad but not for me :D

I don't know of a cheaper 4mbps uncapped fiber connection. Please enlighten me.

https://www.mitsol.co.za/solutions/internet/ftth-open-access/?filtering=1&filter_line-speed=5-mbps

Of course, it all depends what network you have access to, but there we go. And remember - this is a fibre connection that Axxess admits you shouldn't really be streaming decent video on - which you'd expect to do on ADSL even!

Vox is the only other provider I've seen with this "cheap/pro" stepped pricing

Home fibre uncapped, great let's stream Netflix....wait I can't.

why is the fibre line rental different for each speed

Same as ADSL, and I don't pay nearly the same for my 4Mb/s as someone for a 10Mb/s line. Otherwise I'd be on 10, not 4.

also nonsense today.

there was a stage at the beginning that the equipment only supported up to 2mbps or something and the new equipment which was more expensive supported more. so they charged a higher fee.

They've all missed the point of fiber by giving adsl speeds and measly usage caps.

Except that in South Africa you pay for the Benz and get the Mini by world standards.

Because it's different speeds. :erm:
That's already factored into the package. Shouldn't be including it in the line rental as well.
