MTN testing Facebook’s Voyager platform

Let me guess. The savings will not be passed on the customers untill further testing is done. Which will be never.

Yeah but when have we seen lower prices in South Africa as a result of savings on the other side of the fence? There always seems to be a catch of some kind or a reason why the reduction in costs means more cost elsewhere or a bump in perceived value which means the savings aren't "tangible" for customers. If I was a betting man, I'd say this is just a headline used by MTN to try and spin public attention away from the series of bad press they've had in recent times. I mean, think about it for a second. If they save a ton of money on infrastructure, it simply means that they will be able to recover their huge losses sooner. No reason for them to lose money because they are immensely stupid and incurring massive fines AND charge their customers less now is there?

I mean, they celebrated their ability to shave off more than half of their $3.9 billion fine and then later managed to get it reduced to just shy of a $1 billion which they will pay off in 3 years. Very clever guys, but really, how stupid and mediocre can you get? a Smart leadership wouldn't have to pay the fine in the first place! Then again, not long ago another one of the big bad wolves tried to sell us the worlds dumbest idea right here on mybroadband which is that charging R2 per meg out of bundle helps with network planning, yes Vodacom, I'm looking at you. We're idiots, remember.

Wolves are wolves, sheep are sheep. We all know all too well who the wolves are but we bluff ourselves thinking we're as strong as sheep when dealing with these wolves.

Either way, I'll not benefit from their savings even if they introduce it, but I'm still adding my voice to the consumer community if I can, lol.
