Voice is dead – Telkom CEO

Then why the $#% are we not able to have naked ADSL eh?
 
This is the most sensible thing I've heard from Telkom all year. I wish all the other mobile providers would start realising this too.

It doesn't really matter. His point is that voice as a standalone paid-for service is essentially dying a slow death. Whether it's mobile or fixed line, it's still true.
 
Then why am I being billed for it even thou I do not use it?

I believe I posted about... 4 years ago? That voice is dead,I'm certainly pleased that finally Telkom is acknowledging that fact,took them long though.

This is exactly what will happen if they do eventually add naked ADSL. They will simply add the amount you would have paid for voice line rental to the ADSL line rental. In the end you will still end up paying the same but at least you'll feel warm and fuzzy because you don't have the extra line item on your invoice.

And for those that actually want a landline, would they have to pay double or would the landline be "free"?
