Middelburg – Siphamandla Choma, the 14-year-old schoolboy who was hospitalised after he was beaten up allegedly by his headmaster for stealing R150, has died.

The Mpumalanga Department of Health on Monday said it can confirm that "one of our patients, a 14-year-old boy who was admitted in Middelburg Hospital following an alleged beating by a school Principal for allegedly stealing R150 has passed on".

The Middelburg principal accused of beating the boy was charged with misconduct and made his first appearance at the disciplinary hearing on Friday. The teenager, who was left paralysed after the brutal beating, died in hospital on Sunday evening.

This isn't really the thread for that.

But as we all intuit deep down, human life is too precious to throw away on only temporal things. Somehow, in the struggle and pain, we must cling to that which never becomes stale - the true, the good, and the beautiful.

It's late. Hope you have a good rest tomorrow.

Respect. I get where you are coming from....i think.

That headmaster would have suffered a painful death if it was my child. Hopefully this has now moved on from a disciplinary hearing to an arrest.
With our sick policies, I assume he remain on full pay as well:mad:

This is no longer a "departmental" as it is now and actually should have been from the start a criminal issue.

How the fvk can you beat someone so bad they end up like that and later die. And this a "person" who works with kids every day.
Disgusting and it shows the "departments" stance by not laying charges immediately.

I can relate to the headmasters sentiments - If there was proof that the boy stole money from his teachers bag, then disciplinary action was necessary. The principal just went about it the wrong way though - there are other methods to deal with misconduct and beating a child is against the law.

I get where you are coming from Arthur, but human emotion plays a big role here. Such incidents would definitely trigger a response of retribution or revenge, its just the way it is i suppose.

:o reminded me of this.

We had such monsters as teachers, especially at primary school level. Though nobody died, there was a lot of sadistic punishments.

Should have been an arrest from the beginning.

A beating by the headmaster in my day was getting 3 to 6 with a cane. This kind of beating ... is ... depraved!

Rest in peace, lad. Condolences to your family. My heart breaks for them. No parent should ever have to lay their children to rest.
