Windows 10 destroyed my hard drive – Lawsuit

The users stated that the Windows 10 updater did not check the condition of the PC and if “the hard drive can withstand the stress of the Windows 10 installation”

Pfffttt...Muricans!

Jisses wtf is wrong with these people?

Not as if MS is better than these people

article said:
Microsoft responded to the lawsuit, stating that its free Windows 10 upgrade programme was optional.

Optional until MS made it recommended update and anyone with automatic updates and install recommended updates ticked suddenly had Win10 on their PCs...

Did or did they not install Win10 on some peoples PCs without express user authorization?

What do you mean express user authorization? Surely that's implicit if you don't turn off updates? Does MS agree not to push updates of a certain size and or nature somewhere in their user agreement?

Besides which if your hard drive is so fccked that an OS upgrade is going to kill it and you aren't backing up regularly you were going to lose your data anyway.

Wait a minute did MS just said the upgrade was optional?!!!

I would highly disagree therem they pushed that thing so hard if they could auto update you they would and they also cut updates to windows 7 to force people.

You know this is starting to show again what MS really is.

People seem to forget who this company is and views it was built upon

I am sad to report that the MyBB is full of Microsoft fanatics, so the point is moot.

The Pawnee tribe? :)

There are plenty of reports regarding M'$'es upgrade process going rogue, the issues it caused. people deselecting it to only have their choice ignored in subsequent updates ... ending up in special non-M$ tools to block it.

However reality seems to be an inconvenient triviality and memory is short ...

Plenty of highly technical people complaining about updates happening spontaneously so not exactly "optional" but probably M$ optional™.

You think they are responsible for the drives crashing?!
You do know there's such a thing as a logical or software crash? I doubt most people will know the difference between that and a hardware crash.

Aside from the spontaneous/forced update issue, these guys are claiming their drives were destroyed, and had to replace them, losing data. :crylaugh:
