Samsung's new docking station turns your smartphone into a computer

Give it two more generations then jump on this. I don't think this will be a smooth experience at its current state.
 
What's the yield on such a set up?
 
OTG cable with mouse/keyboard connected by USB hub did a job for me in the past.
 
Well the continuum dock from Microsoft was R1500, so expect Samsung to up that price to R2000

It would be awesome if something like the Dex was the future.

I LOVE this idea, and have been a keen follower of Ubuntu touch. But the reality seems to be its practically a non starter for everyone except the tech market. I honestly think that having android on a big monitor is a hack job ... Id very much prefer a full desktop OS (Linux or Windows pref) with a "Phone VM" rather than the other way around ... and up to now .. the devices have been average, but very lacking in the slick phone department, so it pretty much fails as a useful phone (slow, buggy etc).

IMHO the way to tackle this is to allow phone drivers to be natively available precompiled binaries for target OS's, unlock bootloaders to allow full blown OS boot, and let the community take care of a slick phone app that does the basics well, and then this will fly .. Up to now .. its been the "Phone OS" show, and that's just not enough for a full blown desktop experience.

Honestly I think they were on the right track, and couldve been market leaders, but I think they are too far behind the curve now .. some bad project decisions have cost them, and a failed crowd funding campaign didnt help. If they had stuck to basics, they'd be the shares to buy right now.

My XperiaS had an hdmi port.
Bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo, plug it into the tv and instant miniature playstation.
 
pitty only for s8....just got my s7 edge
