or unpatched OS's then...

Are those PC's busy doing updates?

Edit: looks more like "press ctrl alt del to login" kind of thing.

The initial vector is more likely to be an email attachment or a compromised website.

EternalBlue is a remote code execution attack taking advantage of a SMBv2 vulnerability in Windows but MS17-010 states “This security update resolves vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows. The most severe of the vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if an attacker sends specially crafted messages to a Microsoft Server Message Block 1.0 (SMBv1) server.”

I'm just amazed that so many huge companies/organisations have left themselves vulnerable to such a well known issue..I guess there may be a few IT guys looking for jobs once this blows over

...and more than a few that have left their cozy pub/tv room/bedroom for a looong weekend at the office...

Who the F*** does this to hospitals?

Was wondering the same thing, doubt it's a bunch of bored kids, most likely a syndicate of unscrupulous s**ts that left their humanity behind some time ago...

Ah I was reading another article guess this particular organization needs to really look at their security.

All organizations need to look at their patching policies. This worm spreads like wildfire. And heaven forbid you have SMB explosed to the internet!

When will people learn to patch! This exploit was fixed in March!

Hope everyone's backups are working.

Unfortunately, human lives aren't easily backed up, let's hope it hasn't come to that...

Seen the effects of a cryptolocker before. Horrible stuff to deal with.
