MultiChoice welcomes judgement on digital TV encryption

Not in favour of Multichoice, as I know their reasoning, but also wasn't in favour of encryption on the government sponsored STB's. If you remember my posts, you will remember. :)

My 2c - For the STB to support encryption doesn't necessarily mean it has to be on or off nor does it mean that it is access control. What I do know is that the majority of licensing associated with high quality, new or live content it is not licensable for broadcast unless the content is encrypted to protect it against piracy etc. I wonder who this benefits the most?

Just in reverse. It will be more unencrypted broadcast titles on the market.

We should really follow US model and only allow unencrypted broadcasing in traditional TV spectrum. ICASA made mistake in the past giving away some licences, now it will be easier to declare this spectrum free to air (less reason to fight for)...
 
Hey MonoChoice, Just heard on 702 Ayanda Dlodlo stating that she will follow the ANC request for encryption.

Faith Muthambi gave the middle finger to the ANC - now Ayanda Dlodlo is giving MonoChoice the middle finger.
