How Vodacom and Cell C handle “LTE connection data”

Cell C and Vodacom have told MyBroadband they do not charge subscribers for the data used by LTE devices to connect to their respective networks.

To be frank, MTN needs to be taken to task and a class action law suit should be opened against the, for charging people for control plane traffic. How much money have they made from all their subscribers over the last few years???

I want to know if there is any other provider in the world that does what MTN has been doing. It would be interesting

I guess that means that when you send an SMS while connected to LTE, you are being double charged. You are paying for the SMS and the data used to send the SMS from your phone to the network.

The only way for MTN to save face after being caught out is to admit their wrongdoing and correct it. If they are not transparent about it, it may turn into a PR disaster for them.

Will there be consequences for MTN?

Ofcourse not. South Africans will just shake their head, make a facebook post and keep paying MTN every month as it's just too much effort to actually do anything.
