Google launches new Files Go app for Android

Samsung has something like this in their std bloatware. This seems much cleaner.
So far, so good.

I've been using the beta version on my Xiaomi for nearly a week now. I love its simplicity. No ads, no additional functions such as anti virus scanner/battery saver/etc. This is very different from the dozens of other storage management apps. It's also very light - at least the beta version. I'll update later.

I have not bought a Samsung phone for years, but I prefer the "My Files" app that came pre installed on my device. It arranges everything according to the date I downloaded them. Photos, videos, music,PDFs, Office docs... It's easier to find files using the Samsung app, since it lists the most recently downloaded stuff first.

Google just wants a way in to index all the files on your phone, easy just hand out a free app that does that and the suckers will flock to it.

Noticed on the activity/tracking/history page of my Google account they track your app useage, lists a timeline of apps used, didn't know that, it's a little bit creepy.

If they wanted to do that they'll just make it part of the OS

Hell no, if they did that the conspiracy theorists and privacy advocates would go bonkers, this way the user gladly agrees to let Google scan their phones (and the obvious implication that the app phones home with the results in some form, just analytics folks...) but on the face of it it's just another app in the app store.

Google is in the business of monitizing user data there is no way this isn't a mining venture in some form or function.

No they're in the advertising business but also spreading out with G Apps, the cloud and hardware.
