How Apple plans to revamp the iPhone’s software

Just like the article anyway Apple failed at making post PC reality and now MS is also failing so back to merging it.

They aren't merging it like Windows did into one thing trying to server two purposes. It's still three separate things but keeping a single "container" if you will.

They are simplifying it while also saving consumers money by having one license across the board.

I do agree though that they could have done this years ago already but I suspect the filesystems were the bottleneck which has now been unified.

It is nothing at all like a Chromebook setup though.

Hopefully though it's all a stepping stone to my dream of seeing a iPad Pro like device that is iOS when mobile and full blown MacOS when docked and not this half-arsed hybrid *** like Microsoft did and Apple said from the start they would never do.

You clearly don't understand much.

1. Chromebook is no where near as advanced or as powerful as macOS - so your "catchup" statement is false and misleading.
2. Apple are not trying to merge OS's into one unified system, like Microsoft tried to do. Still, two separate OS's with a more unified experience when it comes to apps.

May I suggest actually reading the article again?

Just install Ubuntu or Debian via Chroot if you need something more https://github.com/dnschneid/crouton

Can bet your bottom dollar that's their ultimate goal though.

So your solution is to install something else... fail. macOS has that built in.

Oh and your 2nd point is pure speculation on your part and not supported by anything

I actually don’t mind Apple playing catch up. They always do it better.

So you think Backstreet Wife’s likes it better when he comes first or when he does it better?

I tend to agree on that front.. Apple have a tendency of making features work the way they should...

As for the wife, that is up for debate.. I think he's always playing catchup...

Would be cool if they were a little faster though ... maybe narrow the gap to a generation behind everyone else
