OneDayOnly’s discounts tested

The Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa (ASA) recently ruled that a discount promised by online shopping website OneDayOnly was misleading.

OneDayOnly advertised a Berlinger Haus 6-Piece Knife Set for R259, and listed the regular retail price as R1,700.

I just took one of their specials from today.

Baccarat Professional 40 x 34cm Roaster - R499 ( they recon it retails for R1100 )

They same Roaster is R599 at @ home

I think for these articles to really be informative you need a larger sample size than 3 items, why not do it over a period of a month a analyze all items, to much work?

The onus is on the buyer to ascertain if they're getting a good deal or not. The onus is on the seller to try bedazzle the prospective buyers with great savings. That's all well and good just as long as the seller doesn't blatantly lie. It should be law that companies like Takealot belong to ASA.
