Google launches Podcasts app for Android

Google has launched a new podcast app named Google Podcasts for Android.

The app uses Google’s recommendation algorithms to suggest podcasts based on listening history and preferences.
 
Can't organise a playlist according to reviews. Will steer clear for now. Don't care about
recommendations.

Can it download podcasts to listen to later on other devices? I don't have an Android smartphone, but have in mind someone who does, and would benefit if the the software allowed downloading. [I have been downloading episodes of The Magnus Archives podcast for my mother to listen to. Currently, I subscribe to the podcast on iTunes on my home PC, copy the podcast files onto a flash drive, and transfer them to her laptop to listen to.]

Any increased exposure of the podcasting world is good, but this 'app' doesn't hold a candle to Pocket Casts. Use that rather people.
 
looks basic but like the potential for recommending and finding great podcasts
