1GB WhatsApp data for R15

Telkom has launched a 1GB WhatsApp bundle for R15, where the data lasts for 30 days and can only be used on the messaging platform.

The new WhatsApp data bundle is available through the *123# USSD menu by selecting option 2.

"Your account was successfully loaded with 500MB of Data that will expire at the end of the next calendar month."
It's not a 1Gig of Data?!?!? LIES

Instead of lowering the price of data bundles, these douchewad cellular companies try to hide behind their borderline fraudulent WhatsApp bundles...

Wish the average Joe would realise this and stop buying into it..

Fraudulent? My kid chows though Whatapp data like you cannot believe - just wish the bundles extended to Instagram as well.

Thank you for this info on more affordable WhatsApp bundles offered by Telkom, MTN and Cell C - BUT WHERE IS VODACOM'S offer to THEIR customers?

Fraudulent in the sense that they can lower the price of data overall and not just create data bundles for specific purposes..

Your kid chows through WhatsApp data and my data is largely used elsewhere..

Then there is the interesting comment made above about the WhatsApp data bundles on MTN apparently not including images and videos sent over WhatsApp.. Can't speak to how true this is though, but if it is, there really is no point in having WhatsApp data bundles.. You would have a hard time using 1GB of data on text only messages in 30 days..

That's not fraud.

Then this bundle is of no use to you, don't buy it, there are other bundle types available. Freeme bundles, for example, have a bit of everything - voice, sms, data, wifi, and whatsapp.

That might be the case with MTN, I don't know, but it's not with Telkom.

It takes a while for Vodacom to [-]innovate[/-] imitate new products of their own.

There's nothing wrong with the price but it's an irrelevant deal. Who the hell uses a gig of WhatsApp data in a month? Very few people do. I'm a reasonably heavy WhatsApp user and I don't even come close to using that much.

OBVIOUSLY I use the term loosely.....

My point is that there is NO need for these specialised bundles when the operators CAN bring the cost of normal bundles down..

As mentioned earlier - my kid does, with ease. The 500mb that comes with a FreeMe bundle goes in a matter of days, especially during school holidays.

Telkom has some of the most affordable bundles already.

VODACOM - Compliance with ICASA Transfer of Data

It appears you are correct, Bwana.
However, although requesting an extension from ICASA in order to implement the changes required, I believe Vodacom are now in contravention of this ruling.

I have called Vodacom Customer Services and visited our local branch and the staff are absolutely unaware of what I'm referring to.

As I stated "not many people do". There are always exceptions to any rule.

Maybe not many adults do but I'd wager many kids these days are chowing through whatapp data and that's a pretty big demographic.

Virgin Mobile is running a special right now where WhatsApp is free, gratis and mahala for 3 months right now. Maybe you should look into it.

FYI guys. Currently there is a bug with this bundle. When you buy it it shows 1GB Social bundle but it gets depleted for all your data usage even speedtest use this 1GB.

Catch it while it's hot before Telkom fixes it. :) R15 for 1GB is a steal
