Sounds pretty good. But look on some online laptop sellers to compare.

He received it as a gift, but he has a monster gaming PC and is sitting at home most of the time. So no need for mobility.

I told him I would give him R7000 cash and he agreed.

So you think it is a good buy?

Very good buy, don't forget to insure it.

Okay. Seller is here and I am busy test driving the laptop now.
I can only say. WOW!!!
Not only does it look great but it is very light and SUPER SUPER fast. With another 2GB of RAM it should be flying.

To think I am buying it for my other half. She will be crazy about it but I am seriously considering taking this one for myself and giving her my current HP.

She should be happy with the HP.
It has
*AMD Turion 64x2
*3GB RAM
*250Gb HDD.
*15" Screen
*Wifi + Bluetooth
*Super Multi DVD writer
*Webcam
*etc
*etc

Only thing about that notebook is the previous generation specs. Otherwise it's a good deal; I quite like the Sony notebooks

But, with notebooks that's not such a major issue. You want quite fast but light and good battery life - a 2.0 GHz C2D is plenty horsepower for portable tasks,
after all people do well enough with 1.6GHz Atom processors.

i decided to keep this one for me and shift the HP over to the other half.

I just tried it with Photoshop CS and Adobe Illustrator and it was going like the wind. I had a decent desktop before and it never went as quick as this.

Very very nice.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Fair enough, but for R7000, I can't help but feel like I'd rather get a brand new machine. Something about second-hand hardware that just feels off... Like it's been dirtied (by someone other than me :p ).

Sure :). But then again, take it home and within minutes it's second hand already too :).

It's only two weeks old. Those two weeks saved R3500 minimum.
