Any ideas?

Do you know which version of the dashboard you got? Might be an idea to download V5, if you don't have it. Look in the FAQ for the links.

One thing you can try before reinstalling is to manually delete the entries for the Novatel card from the device manager. After you've done this try a full re-install. Below the official Novatel response:

Installation problems with Novatel U630 Merlin

Affected Version(s): VMC 4.0x with Novatel U630 Merlin

We received tickets with customers who had problems installing the new Novatel U630 Merlin 3G/GPRS datacard. The problems are basically the following:

1) During installation, the "Found New Hardware Wizard" pops up and is showing the following:

Following workaround should work with Windows XP:

a. Insert the card and select the Novatel MF device with the yellow exclamation mark.
b. Press 'del' to remove the device
c. Unplug the U630 from the PC card slot.
d. Reboot the notebook
e. Copy the two original Windows inf files (mf.inf and mf.pnf) to %SYSTEMROOT%\INF (e.g. C:\Windows\inf)
f. Start the Vodafone Profile Manager
g. Insert the card when the software asks to do so.
Then the installation process should finish properly.
