You will not believe the amazing capability of this device! It allows you to turn your pc monitor into a TV set without any PC! All you do is connect any monitor or any other display, speakers, and aerial to the little box and voila! Excellent quality TV is yours! No more humming from the pc because of a tv card. This will work on all vga monitors! Get yours today! Heres an idea, buy a 19 inch widescreen lcd monitor and connect this to it! Its the cheapest LCD tv you can buy! Order yours today! Connect it to a Projector for tv viewing pleasure! Complete with remote. Picture in picture, TV Wall, and you can run use your pc and the tv box together on the same screen at the same time. A button on the remote switches between the two.

they sells this for r600

does anyone have any knowledge of this, have used it, or any views on this.
as my gf wants to buy this

It should be possible, I am sure its a TV tuner box that plugs into a monitor. Can we please have a link / make + model?

It's basically a tuner card with a VGA-out . That's also what you use if you want to play your PS2/Xbox on your VGA monitor instead of TV.

It's a Mecer tv tuner, normal retail is around R330.These things are quite common. Most companies just call it "external tvbox".

Anyway sounds like the same person on bob.

Hmm now that's a good price. Now i want one too ;) . Anywhere else i can buy that? Comx is too much hassle to buy something cheap like that [i.e. no cc, have to wait for them to "get back to you with quote" , probably only courier stuff [thus no postal adress]..etc etc ]. I mean this is a R300 product....i can understand all that "jumping through hoops" when buying a R10k+ laptop..but not for R300 i'm sorry.

Here's the "hoops" to jump through btw:
* We will email you an official quote with the latest price, our terms and banking details
* You make payment into ABSA or Standard bank (10% deposit is acceptable if you collect)
* Fax or email us that you have made payment
* We ship your goods anywhere in South Africa
* You receive your goods within 1 to 3 days of shipping (main cities only)

when i bought my tv turner card, it was also said that i need one...

...but after buying it they never asked again

A bit off-topic and i have been searching for this for a while, but anyone know where i can get a good/cheap VGA to RCA converter like box, almost like the above?

I.E. i want to have TV out on my laptop that only has the 15pin RGB VGA output!

Something like this? I think these goodies can be expensive

The E-3800 is a compact VGA to video converter or what is sometimes called a scan-converter. It is suitable for users wanting to convert PC or VGA signals to analog video. These can then be displayed on a TV or recorded onto a DVR/VCR.

and with a cheaper pricetag [not sure how you buy it on this site:] @R600

...above site is actually an aggregate site like Jump.co.za . It will lead you to http://www.shopeasy.co.za/ProductDescription.aspx?id=377035

diabolus, saw that on another thread but they are out of stock, so my next option looks like a divx dvd player from hifi corp, a cheap one, think its R449

A tv license...:confused:whats that

I just saw this old post and this reply includes very important info. It is illegal to buy a TV tuner without a TV license. Chances are that BUY1 has been requested to give in their TV license sales because all supplier TV license sales are audited by the SABC every year. I know this to be a fact. Should BUY1 not have requested a TV license, then they will have to pay R5000 fine PER UNLICENSED SALE, and the purchaser will have to pay the normal TV license, PLUS A FINE OF TWICE THE ANNUAL FEE. This is the law and there is not getting away from it these days. If you get around the law at first, you will be caught.

My advice, buy with a TV license because the law does not care. The SABC does not have to contact you about the license, they can simply send the S.A.P.S, and open a criminal case against the company and you because it is a criminal offense not to pay.

Sad, but true.

NB NB: Although some shops get away from it for a short time, it only takes ONE complaint to the SABC to open a file against a company.

It's very simple and common here ,in my country,my friend have been used it for years……
It's said no need to install any software, just use set-top box digital television to connect to the device by AV , the device provides VGA output , connect CRT,LCD Monitors and other equipment , you can watch TV. At the same time , it also supports PAL, NTSC video input formats , providing VIDEO, S-VIDEO interface, easy to connect cameras , DVD, TV game consoles .
Hope my answer could help you,if you wanna know more details ,you can contact me,[email protected].
