Is it possible to connect to MSN with local bandwidth?

No... not unless say, suddenly, you get INT access on your TI account, which does happen now and again but only lasts like, 2/3 days (for me at least)

You can use 24.com's messenger to chat to your MSN contacts using local bandwidth. I used it a long time ago, the only issue seemed to be that it removes the block on people who you've blocked. Maybe they sorted it out by now, but it's the only way (that I know of) to use local bandwidth to chat to your MSN contacts.

You can also use the local Jabber network, since it has a transport that supports MSN.

Thanks dude, I'll give that a shot. :)

Eek , NOD32 picks up 3 viruses while installing and automatically quarantines them so I can't use 24 Messenger. :(

How exactly would I do that?

Something like running MXit on my PC?

Basically you run an IM program on your PC that supports Jabber, like Psi, Pidgin, Gaim or Kopete. Depending on the Jabber server, there will be different transports that allows you to log into other IM networks where you might have accounts, the local one has transports for AIM, Gadu-Gadu, Google, ICQ, MSN and Yahoo. So far I've used it successfully to chat to mates on GTalk, haven't tried any of the other networks.

You can have a look at http://www.jabber.co.za/, though it doesn't really explain how to sign up.

Install the file from the download box that pops up after the download is finished? That worked for me, and Nod didn't give any issues.

Just to make sure, I scanned the file itself and there's nothing wrong with it :D

Heh, didn't work for me. Maybe I should disable NOD32 while installing.

Cool.

Seems like those are only Linux programs?

Wow, won't install with NOD disabled!

Would show you a pic, but uploading photos isn't working here.

Ok this works: Disable NOD's AMON, right-click on the file and go to "run as". Make sure that the box that says "protect my computer and data and files...." is not checked. That should fix it ;)

edit: don't forget to enable AMON again :D

Awesome, seems to be working! ;)

Great, wishing you many happy hours! Also please don't forget to provide feedback on it, as I'm sure lots of people would be interested too (me included) :)
