Hi

I've been playing Starcraft again lately but since last weekend I'm getting this error when I try to join the South African server. (Everything works fine on non-SA servers)

"Your internet connection is either very poor or is not processing UDP packets through port 6112. You will be able to chat but will not be able to play games. Contact your internet service provider or your system administrator for assistance with opening this port."

The server is: sc.twilight.za.net
I'm using Windows XP SP2 and has a Vodacom 3G HSDPA USB modem.

Any ideas?

Sound like another apn/routing/port issue.

1) Do you get the error 100% of the time? I.e. it's not just bad throughput causing it?
2) Which apn are you using?
3) What area are you in?
4) Can you (or someone else) explain how this server works, which way is the connection established, why UDP (as opposed to TCP), etc.

Hi

Thanks for your replay. Answers to the questions asked are as follows:

1) I get the error 100% of the time (but only since last weekend).
2) My APN setting is set as Dynamic (don't know exactly what else to look for)
3) I'm in Johannesburg, Midrand (close to Vodaworld)
4) I'll try and find this out: Don't know if this might be of some help: http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=msi0445p

Thank you.

2) My APN setting is set as Dynamic (don't know exactly what else to look for)
Sounds like you're using one of the Huawei dashboards for the E220 and you have not properly specified an APN to use, edit the profile, change the APN to Static, and then set the APN name to internet, this probably will not solve your original port error problem, but should make your connection work better.

PS: Welcome to MyBroadband :).

The strange this is that I can play on other NON-SA servers, so it seems that it's a specific error on this server..

I'll try to get the server host to read the post and get his idea on it, but there's like 400 people playing on this server and I'm sure other 3G users would have complained to him if it was server specific so I'm a bit baffled.

Will test it tomorrow and will let you guys know whether it works.

Thanks for all the help thus far..

Hi

So I suppose the work on the tower is completed by now...and I'm still having the same problem so that suggest it's a server problem....will consult with the server admins then.

Thanks for all the help thus far.

whos the server admins? i think its a Vodacom Prob, i have ADSL and a friend of mine has VODACom 3G HSDPA, we both got the same error message so i forwarded that port on my router and i never got that error message again but he still keeps getting it so isnt that an error with vodacom. Maybe is should be set at the APN where the fone connects to

Hi

Well yes the problem is a Vodacom 3G HSDPA problem. The only way to fix it is to ask Vodacom to activate your internetvpn (as APN) so that you can get a fixed IP.

There are lots of topics on internetvpn so just search the forums.

Hope this helps!
