just wanted to say too all you new peeps with skype, make sure you dont become a supernode!!!! :( skype chowed 2gb of my bandwidth yesterday :(

So how do you know if you're a node and how to I stop it?

wtf is a node period forget super
A node is one PC in a network.

WTF is a super node?
A supernode is a PC via which other traffic on the skype network is routed. For technical reasons, the two PCs can usually not connect directly to each other. i.e if you're calling your mate next door then chances are good that the traffic first goes to England/wherever the next best supernode is.

So how do you know if you're a node and how to I stop it?
You avoid becoming a supernode by not allowing incoming connections. i.e. don't fidget with port forwarding on your adsl router.

here's a little more info

Skype's official End-User Licence Agreement (EULA) no longer mentions supernodes, but now says merely:

"4.1 Permission to utilise your computer. In order to receive the benefits provided by the Skype Software, you hereby grant permission for the Skype Software to utilise the processor and bandwidth of your computer for the limited purpose of facilitating the communication between Skype Software users. "

boohoooooo :( what a waste of hard earned cash! mofo'z!!!!
