In the spirit of things to come, I was wondering:
Seeing that local uncapped seems to be nearing its end, maybe we can get one last poll of howmuch people are really downloading a month on ADSL.
I have a normal 3 GB account.
Today 24 June my stats are like this:
Upload (Bytes) // Download (Bytes) // Combined (Bytes)
52 250 681 317 // 32 195 930 961 // 84 446 612 278

Anyone to comment :D

i only got 50 megs left so i am going to leave P2P on for a few days and try download as much as i can! I am aiming for 10 Gb

don't they timeout after like 24 hrs to check your usage?

But becafeful since when you leave your pc overnight using a router, isnt advised.
I had to reboot my modem every 48 hours in every download!
 
so its not advised to have hardware designed for 24 hour connections and that has no moving parts to be left on overnight?..... OK

Most routers are designed to run 24/7/365 - its what they do in life.
 
Ok I got disconnected but I managed to suck up a extra 2 gigs so i got 5 gigs so far...
 
Downloads

I have a 192 connection, with Satellite conncetion on top of that. My adsl were installed around the 10th.

My stats upto yesterday were about 80MB download, 700MB up on the ADSL.

In reallity, I downloaded around 20GB!!!

The satellite connection might be a bit slower, but it is consistant and no cap!

R350/month + card (around R1000-00 PCI, R2500 for usb) 1year contract.

I had the satellite before the ADSL, just decided to keep it anyway.

Tiscali. (MWEB stopped taking on new customers.)

Now that MWEB has taken over Tiscali, I'm not if they still offer the service.

normally around 0.3Mps, over weekends, 0.5 - 0.6Mps on weekdays, although there is often bursts that goes faster than 1Mps. At around 2Mps (this is very rare) my PC dies with a 0x40000080.

Remember though most of my downloads is from newsgroups and http. In a P2P environment, uploading could get you capped quickly!

On a 3GB account :cool: :p
 
As much as I hate the fact that telkom is going to be capping local... I can understand why.. Thank you so much guys for doing this to us!.. Its so great to know we have responsible people in this country. You can all be so proud!

I agree totally, I just cannot understand why you people download stuff for the sake of downloading...you're basically wasting bandwidth, and as Kalvaer says, making Telkom change their local capping policy!!!
