Heard it's a decent camera but if you're going the Nikon route there are better models to choose from - the D300 for one.
Undoubtedlybit of a difference in pricing tho'
whats the pro's and con's ?
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/com...debyside&cameras=nikon_d40,nikon_d80&show=allGet the D40. It's like half the price and does the same thing.
D80 would be a choice over a 30D maybe, it's a far better camera from a photographer's viewpoint than a 400D. The two models aren't competitors.Dont have one, but its a good camera - played with one for awhile, nice choice over a Canon 400D
4mp could be a bit of a sacrifice
4mp is no difference? That's no difference at all.
4mp is no difference?![]()
There's more to it than image quality. What about printing enlargements, cropping, image manipulation . . . . are you saying that having more pixels to play with wont make a difference? It will show up in a lab test, but means nothing in terms of image quality.
6mp to 10mp is nothing.
are you saying that having more pixels to play with wont make a difference?
ok - prove it to me - or at least explain why bringing in a tight crop wont benefit from having more pixels - or why you wont be able to print a bigger print from a 10mp than you would from a 6mp camera because I'm having a problem getting my mind around it.For the D40 to D80, yes, that's what I am saying. Try it for yourself. I think you will be surprised by the outcome. 5D, now that's a difference!![]()
Have you thought about checking out your local camera club? http://www.photosa.co.za/clubs/club.phpAnyone know of a professional photo school i can go to in GP ?

You can also pick up plenty from the web - one of the best things about digital is that practising is free![]()
