Well since there are so many of us sitting with bandwidth thats impossible to use, lets get creative.

How about setting up VPN's or FTP's to share data?

Any other ideas?
 
problem is sharing it equally else u will just have people leeching
 
How ever much i like your suggestion, the upload aspect of a vpn would make greenlab a far cheaper alternative. It would be a situation of: if you give me a gig of stuff, then you would expect me to give the same back to you.

You can probably get better ratios via local torrents. The whole problem with dealing with leechers would neccesitate a system to manage the upload download ratios of individuals. The local p2p scene already has these systems in place.

i would love for something like this to work though, but sadly upload kills the idea everytime.

I was thinking about it and your right the idea of someone sitting out there leeching the hell outta me sucks.

But i was thinking we could all just post what we have on our drives. like a list and if someone wants something make a password protected FTP with just that content and let them have it.

At the end of the day if we all can just be fair about it, there would be no problems, but i understand the leech mindset of "gimme gimme" I personally have no problem with uploading 15GB of bandwidth and receiving 15GB back.

All i really want is Naruto, Bleach, and the latest Manga.

Ive been a greenlab member for a while they just dont do it for me I.T.O. Japanamation.
 
Greenlab is not an option for me - I want nothing to do with them.

I have about 5GB local left for the month. I've paid for it and I'm very prepared to share it rather than have it go to waste.
 
Short terms solution.

Use the add/remove windows component feature to add ftp support on your pc.

Id be willing to use the 10GB i got left to distribute whatever is needed.

Note : I have no illegal wares. I deal Mostly in Fansubbed Anime, but if you want a complete list pm me, im going out for the night now. Ill reply to all pm's as soon as i can.
 
well there are dc uhbs that you can use as well .... but none are as good as the news servers :)
 
Last post before i toss off. I despise dc and torrentz. Not for me.
 
One would have to make some sort of tracker for this to work well, then on it will be the list of the users files, and you would be able to ask the user to share things.
 
I'd be happy to jump on board if we went the ftp route. But will only be ready with my bandwidth at the end of the month - have some other holes to fill - you see Telkom/IS/SAIX - I can't even afford stupid local (which should be free anyway) bandwidth :mad:

I've got Bleach 26-140. Karas, Samurai 7 and some other stuff.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is this not the idea behind P2P networks?
 
I'm on board as long as you techies can tell us "untechies" what to do...

I have set up an FTP.. I don't mind sharing stuff, but i would like to be able to leech in return.

If you are interested, i have 750gigs of data on my PC, and i do keep up to date with most series.. Please PM me.

quick pointer here. keeping fan subbed anime backup on dvd/hdd is illegal too and you are depriving the original artist and release house of their money by not buying the legit dvd when its licensed and released.
 
ANyway my friend in the UK is talking me through setting up an my PC as an FTP.

Will be compiling my list and have it ready by the end of the month. As stated earlier I have some issues for right now. Got about 100gig of stuff.

I suggest those of us that are interested compile and PM e-mail addy's around and then see where to from there.
 
You know the whole reason software such as Direct Connect was written was for exactly the purposes listed in the previous posts.

If you set up an FTP site someone is going to leak the password and you'll have 100 leechers on your ass before you know it.

Its good to see there are people out there open to the idea.
And about the legality of Fansubbed Anime, i believe it becomes illegal to distrubute and keep only after the said Anime gets licensed in your area?

Ive only done contract law so excuse my naiveté. Im probably wrong, but it would be nice to know either way. :rolleyes:

What do you do with 5gb? 50gb maybe, 100gb yes but what do you do with 5gb?
 
Im also open to the FTP idea. And i have no problem sharing with someone as long as they have something i'm interested in. Is there a better forum where we can discuss and post "inventory"?
