Shocking. I wonder when someone will successfully sue Eskom over this. There's a lot of smaller companies that have already gone under.

What would happen if for example a hospital suffered a power failure and their backup gen. also died and then someone on the operating table died as a result. Could Eskom be liable?

No, the counter argument is that eskom, to the best of their ability (which isn't much) gave forewarning of power cuts to the nation.

Besides, you sue them, government has to ultimately cover that cost, and taxes cover that... so you're really just suing the working class.

Telkom, for once, is ahead of the game by having their own power supply...

Another example of replacing expertise with non-expertize. This is not only happening to Eskom, but in all spheres of service delivery. We are talking one step forward for every three back. How does the Government expect the economy to grow from here on?
