Why swear at all...try and find a different word to express your emotion!

I know they are both quite different, but could one then say, "Why kill when you can hit a pillow to rid your anger"?

In a perfect world, I say.

Keeping online game servers free of bad language sets a standard more than anything. Its not about protecting gamers from the bad language, but rather keeping the quality of the server above a cess-pit of 14 year olds making abusive comments about "ya momas c**t". If you can't understand this, you're probably too young to be legally playing the game anyway.

Take a look at IS' warcraft 3 server (as an example of what game providers are trying to avoid). Nobody acts like that in real life. Nobody would dare say things like that to your face. But no, they feel that because they're hiding behind their internet connection, its appropriate to make inappropriate/racist comments...when the chances are, they're probably not even 16 yet.

Sure, the game providers *could* say that "bad language can be used in moderation as long as it doesn't infringe on the following 462 rules which are deemed inappropriate", but frankly its much easier for them to just say no to swearing in its entirety.

good point and well spoken.

i guess what i meant rather to have s**t in it and blow head off is more or less the same but obviously a differance in saying "ya momas c**t" - if that is kept away obviously the normal s**t and off head scenario must change to just head off..

Weeeeell, SAIX's ROE never mentions bad/foul language. The closest it comes is:

"6.2 Derogatory language and slander involving race, gender, sexual preference, religion or creed, including negative use of otherwise harmless words is not tolerated. This policy is enforced across the board. If a bigot feels the need to express his views on our server, they are creating a hostile environment for our other players. We do not feel the need to provide free servers to hate-mongers."

and

"6.7 You may not use any unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, hateful, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable language toward any other player."

and

"6.12 Spoonerisms may not be used in ingame chat as well as part of your player name ingame. Spoonerisms are words or phrases in which letters or syllables get swapped. Example (duck my sick - suck my dick)."

and they even say

"6.9 A little healthy trash-talk is fine and appropriate to gaming, just as it is to almost any other sporting event. However, prolonged and unsolicited harassment may be grounds for removal. In the event that a player feels the need to continually harass another gamer, they will be requested to cease immediately. If they continue, they may be removed."

So I dont see any problems. Just exclaiming "sh*t" shouldn't get you any trouble as it doesn't break any of the terms.

Right there.

well... swearing Is just nice, IF you really pissed off.... or showing great pleasure.... but if you insulting other online users to vent out your anger and to just piss them off... then, i think you need to moderate that

Right there.

Well spotted.

Im still wondering about the definition of "A little healthy trash-talk is fine and appropriate to gaming, just as it is to almost any other sporting event."

Is "I am going to rip off your head and excrete feces down your throat" falling in that category? What would?
