.MKV Converter

Vlc?

While I'm not 100% sure about batch but I think it will handle the conversion.

I have a program at home, I can't remember its name, I'll let you know later marine1.

I tested it, works great!

Nope!!!

I took a .mkv anime movie, converted it, watched it, and opened the .mkv file in another window... they looked almost IDENTICAL... maybe you had wrong settings or something?

I'm very funny with my quality, so thats why I checked, confirmed and now use the program!

the best is winavi it costs money but whats 29.99 dolla :)

fast and quality is awesome

o yes that super program is total rubbish, u need like a degree in rocket science to get a movie to encode correct

winavi is open select what format and click encode bam done :)

dude of course you will lose SOME quality...

try watching that converted divx on a 50" plasma VS the original mkv then u'll see what im talking about

if you dont want to watch it on a plasma you wont really notice as big of a difference

... Aint MKV like a wrapper? Not a format like AVI as such ...
Thus you don't need to convert the files at all. You need to extract whatever is inside first. It could even be a .avi file inside!

*Totally random - I could be wrong here*

Indeed you can just download the Maktrosa codec from their site and open the .mkv up in Windows Media Player

About the "extrcact" part - no, you have got that wrong :D Simply download the codec and open it up in WMPlayer or another

But i guess he wants to watch it on a DivX player or something like that, hence the need to convert

About the quality loss- I should mention that i restriced the file size to fit on a 4.7GB DVD. So if you dont have a restriction on size, there shouldnt be a great quality in loss. Kinda assumed that u were limiting, my bad if u werent

Most probably your .mkv film has got a higher bitrate then that of the dvd file you converting it to. I usually like to watch my anime in 720p when available & on the 50" aswell :D, but yeah it does make a difference as i think its a waste converting it from mkv to dvd. Just hookup your pc to the tv.

I do plan to get a player that can handle all popular formats but thats in the future :p

one more thing, ConvertXtoDVD is a good program that i used to use back in the day when converting between formats. You may try that :)

Actually he was right, yes, MKV is a wrapper format, similar to OGM. The video file in the MKV file is probably an .avi file, and using something like VirtualDubMod you would be able to extract the video/audio and save it as an .avi, without the need to convert.

i dunno man ging

i have never seen avi produce the quality that an mkv file does

on my hd samsung 22" monitor you have no idea how amazing an mkx file looks as opposed to an avi

mkv is is the file format for ripped hd movies

lemme tell you watch transformers in 1080p, its amazing in mkv

also i doubt its a wrapper due to the file size, i mean transformers 1080p is 12 gig
