The future of broadband bright with Neotel

The cost of connectivity remains a burning issue for most SA businesses.

Mattiello says because the company is introducing such ’radically different’ options for communications, it won’t be competing directly with any operator, and therefore won’t be drawn into a price war.

I believe your company is here precisely to bring down prices of comms in SA.

"Telecommunications customers may be accustomed to playing the waiting game, but it is no secret that nobody enjoys playing that game. It might be a business basic, but we intend to show up and meet client needs. We want to do business as a proper business does," he says.

So far they've got something right! We don't like waiting!

...oh...but what is this that I'm doing?
WAITING!!!!

Business like a proper business does hey?
How many 100 day launches have they missed?
And the next one is coming around again?

Sorry NoTel, but I've gotta be realistic about you guys.
IBWISI.

waiting for too long. Each article I read makes me more impatient. Maybe they should lay off doing any press until they're ready to launch

I've been waiting for Neotel for almost a year now. I cancelled my ADSL from telsuck and moved house. Didn't get a new install cause telscum suck and Neotel is coming. It's been almost a year now (May will be a year) and no Neotel! I will take ANY internet from them... ANY! even if they were more expensive (really hope they arent) but still nothing...

Im done waiting
Ordered my ADSL from telsuck this morning... pfft neotel! PFFFT!!

I was planning to wait (moved house). But decided against it.. will go with the devil Aka Telkom :(

It makes sense to get Telkom, as you can always cancel later. It's not really costing you anything. Because you proably had a router and did a self install. The only cost you outlayed was the installation of the analogue line.

Personally I couldn't survive without internet access for more than a couple of days. I would never wait.

I'm using ADSL at the moment and I'm waiting anxiously for Neotel, not neccessarily to switch to them but for prices to drop. If their offers present value than I'll switch but it's by no means definite.

sigh. dont they realise that they are busy annoying residential to such an extent that soon we just gonna tell em to sod off. sure they gonna get a couple residential lines but nowhere near as many as they would have had had they not made all those empty promises

Their constant delays and broken promises of "imminent" internet solutions have indeed been an annoyance. Thank goodness my Telkom ADSL experience has only been a good one. I remain positive for Neotel.

Saw a lot of workers digging up streets in Sandton with boards saying 'Neotel at Work'

Hmmm

Is anyone here using anything that has neotel branded on it? guess not

is anyone here seeing anything that remotely looks like a orange box on a telephone pole / signal tower / telephone set / ..... etc??? guess not

So what has changed? well..... lets see....

We had hope ..... now thats dwindling .... and even gone!!
We thought we could tell telkom to F**K off, but now .... we're stuck with them
We really really wanted to use neotel .... now .... I don't know if I want to even test them out.......

So conclusion, changes are happening but not for the better.....

They are bragging about their network but if I remember some headlines Telkom is spending R30 billion on their network. Hmm...I wonder how long Neotel is going to be able to brag about their network.

They are making no difference in my life whatsoever. Nothing that I pay for is cheaper. So companies are just taking the money that they are saving and adding it to their profits. Wow. A company can get a 1 gigbit line. So what? I am still stuck with my S**tty 384kb/s ADSL line with 3 gigs of data a month. And I pay hundreds of Rand for it. ^%$&* off Neotel until you have made one difference in my life or in the lives of the millions of consumers who are constantly getting shafted by telecomms companies.

In SA "bright future" actually means "expect your brightness to disappear at least twice a day for 2 hours " ....bright indeed.

Cool - Wish I could see that! :D I've seen some thin orange pipes in big rolls. Is that Neotel?

no - they belong to Telkom. Saw a dude this morning (yes, Sunday) struggling to drag loads of the stuff out a manhole while two Telkom bakkies were parked next to him on the pavement...
hmm... less of course he was sabotaging Neotel? *falls over....:D

Maybe they were spying on Neotel - or Neotel dudes pretending to be Telkom - I want a price war, with lots of blood, snot and Drama - no prisoners in the pit, no eleventh hour repentances - to the Devil with Value added packages and bundling

so far i have only heard about neotel and haven't seen a darn thing nor has it shown anything in bringing down prices,

"neotel - work in progress" boards up cape rd, pe. Aparently a company called Bongani Telecom doing the actual work (serious). Traffic department very pissed at them digging through the robot sensors at the intersections lol!

anyone spotted that spanky new fiber digger/layer with radar etc that was mentioned here recently, or is that also expected 2009? :P
