R 16 per Mbps per month

We are not allowed to compare Telkom to overseas networks and projects as Telkom prohibits it.

Instead we should compare Telkom with Telkom itself :rolleyes:

Someone has to be the marker to indicate how far everyone else has progressed. They used to use Zim 1.0 but that is now moving back so fast that the Doppler affect has kicked in.

No offence, but you obviously dont know much about economics if you say that. Over the past 5 years our GDP has grown buy over 5 % per year (which is very high) and the JSE has risen by 210%. So any person with half a brain could see that our economy has performed very well.
 
Riddler, perhaps its you that doesnt know too much about economics. The global economy is suffering. It is in decline. South Africa does not have enough power to power one of its biggest industries (mining). Mines are being shut down. No new large projects are allowed, cause we dont have power for them. Businesses lose hundreds of millions each month because of outages. And because of all this, it scares away any potential investors.

Please catcha wake up. The rand is in a freefall. Well be hitting 10 - 12 rand to dollar very soon

While everyone has been monitoring the Rand/Dollar for the past few years, we should have been looking at the Rand/Euro. The Dollar has been depreciating and will continue to do so. So I seriously doubt whether we'll see 10 to 12 rand to the dollar. For the rest of 2008 we'll be fighting the R8/dollar mark.

Quite a few websites seem to be taking this approach and assume that the visitor has a high speed high usage connection. I can't even use Stumbleupon anymore :rolleyes:

Simple. Not everyone is on a reliable high connection. Many people in the States are still on dial-up! Many are on Cable/DSL but at ?512k/1-4Mbps
which isn't terribly fast for super-duper HD video. What these guys
are doing is the same game devs have done in increasing bloat in
their games and the same application developers have done, made
fast machines or reasonably fast connections NOT FAST ENOUGH
and are turning away customers and sources of revenue (ad banner
views).

Yeah because after all, economies are based on exchange rates. If that's the case, then places like Japan and Italy have been in deep sh*t for the past number of years :rolleyes:
