Core ends TomTom deal

Avnic CEO Richard Fearon said there were no reliable figures for market share, but he said TomTom’s sales were “insignificant”.

that's pretty funny. talk about big-headed.

I seriously doubt if TomTom was at fault here. I have had some trouble getting support from Core regarding my device, yet when I started corresponding directly with TomTom in Europe via email, I got prompt service.

i've had no problem getting help from tomtom either, even getting the latest maps was no problem. if u ask me tomtom told this Core place to bugger off.... wouldnt suprise me if they do the distributing themselve now to cash in more on the 400000 units estimated sales this yr?

Core are useless. They import cool Apple and Nintendo gadgets and then charge an arm and a leg for them.

Maybe he accepted the Garmin as a gift to locate the boasted top sales position..:D

Oh please, Core just couldnt handle/be bothered distributing a product that has competition in the market. Not making their usual 100% margin im sure...

ive had a garmin and a tomtom. i found the tomtom maps more up-to-date than garmin. garmin still talks about hans strydom while tomtom talks about malabongwe or however its spelled. tomtom its much easier to update, tomtom home is really what sold me on it. garmin has a much better search facility though. you can type in sterkfontein and get all the sterkfonteins in the country you dont have to go via a city first (try search for sterkfontein dam on tomtom major pain in the arse). garmin generally has much better battery life too so you can walk around with it. both are great both have their problems

Actually really great.
No battery to charge, no co-pilot with nagging voice, fully recyclable (except maybe as loo paper - may cut) etc etc.:D

i have a garmin 60cs and a nokia6110 navigator. i have used them both on a few occasions to navigate to places and i would prefer the nokia cause it talks to you :)

Wow - Hi Fi Corp have TomTom for 1999 (they day save 300).
Is this their way of dumping stock before the general public know this lot??
