What's the use of complaining about SA?

Okay, so currently (and has been going on for around 3 years), it seems to be a lot of people's Affairs to be complaining about SA. And they have much to complain about, one just has to read the News.

My point on this is simple: I don't know what will happen to SA (likely it will go down) and frankly I don't care. What matters to me is what I can do to make my circumstances cope / adapt to the situation at hand.

And I believe one's time can be better spent by securing your situation to be to your benefit, instead of moaning to everyone else.

Everyone has moaned for around 3 years and nothing has helped. The problems in SA seemed to be just getting worse. So clearly, moaning doesn't help and will never help. Look at Zim. These people that moaned, all their efforts for nothing. The militants still came and broke their babies' legs.

So, here is a challenge to everyone: post a list of main problems that directly affect you in SA, and I'll dare to post some solutions that may work, or that have worked / will work in my case in the least.

The table's open. Let's go. Come on. :)

Okay, good one for starters. But a couple of comments / questions first:
1) No-one I know, including myself, have ever been affected by serious crime. Worst that happened with me was washing that were stolen off the line. By the way, we/they all stay in normal middle-class suburbs, nothing fancy, some have no walls around their properties.
2) Which province do you live in?
3) Have you ever been affected by crime? What type of crime is your worst worry that you feel will very likely happen to you?

Point well taken.

Appart from Breakins to house and car. Nothing serious no. That is in Gauteng.
But then again I might just be lucky. I mean almost 50 people gets killed daily in SA.

Complaining is all we have left, IMHO. Politicians have no grasp on reality, and can thus not make any difference to anybody outside of their "world".

oh yeah and why don't I leave SA, afterall I manage to go overseas at least 4x a year on holiday or for business.

Reason: I love taking money from this country and splashing it over my lily white british @ss and giving 0 back to the sick ZIM2.0 soceity...so vat so mugabi, muboweni, mubuki etal...while I suck this former british colony dry and trap on you hahahahaha(evil mugabe laugh track)!...so genuinely I couldn't give a damn if this place goes rwanda! I say go for it! Even Rwanda needed an accountant and business manager

I just wish this could be a forum that sticks to the main topic at hand, that is, technology. I might be wrong but there are many other places on the SA web where people can rant about the deplorable situation in SA. It is kind of depressing coming here and all the new posts are in this section and every day, some or other political crap is being discussed furiously at length leaving the rest of the forum drier than a stiff martini.

The founder of this forum has even acknowledged that these sections are becoming a liability and it is attracting all kinds of people on the internet who come here for the sole purpose of bashing SA or adding their 2cents about the state of SA. This to my mind seems very far removed from the original goal and purpose of the forum, to be about internet and broadband access in SA.

The forum sub-section names are quite clear. You might want to steer clear of those that arent IT related then if they offend you so. They are intended to discuss exactly the issues that have been discussed for the last number of years.

And can you show me where RPM indicated that "these" sections are becoming a "liability:? Apart from the football troll section?

BTW: Have you noticed that the most popular section, and therefore the largest revenue generating section is Off Topic?

Secondly, the forums still revolve around IT and broadband, yet they have other sub-sections which IT employees and Broadband users also find topical.

And how is this thread about bashing SA?

/FAIL

my post was to do with IT..
broadband in this country = fail..
no solution.
who cares about crime when I can't download The Office season 4 in 20 minutes.

I've been on this forum for a few years like when we had only like less than 8000 members. Yes we joined because we want to discuss SA boredband issues..but unfortunately we live here so what else can we do. The guys on this forum all have a lot in common and have laughed and cried together be it at the ADSL Regs and undersea cable fiasco's or about ZIM2.0. We have shared a lot man!

Was he meaning the footy section only or did he mean that section and this one? If so sorry I didn't know that. All I had heard was that he said that this stuff happening was a liability and I thought he meant this section because it relates to the politicians

I don't have issues with anyone bashing SA. I meant that I am just finding it a bit bleh when you go through the forum and everyone lately is just talking politics and ranting about some or other thing that has happened in SA and the technology sections are dead as a graveyard and no-one is interested in that.

Please guys, don't misunderstand me.
We have shared a lot man!
I understand that and I am trying my utmost to respect everyone here. I am still not too sure what exactly goes on here, on a given day and why the place is structured like it is. But I am trying hard so if I screw it up with silly questions, sorry man.

He only posted in the football section so he meant just that I think.

Nope - he was referring to the football section where the trolls hang out. A while back there were one or two members trying to cause problems in N&CA but they were dealt with and the rules became stricter. I doubt RPM has an issue with forumites discussing political issues as long as they stay within the boundaries of the forum rules.

Here is a link to the statement RPM made - have a look at the forum it was placed in as a sticky - http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=122221

Forgive my ignorance, but why is International investment on that list?

I don't think 50 people get killed everyday in this country as a result of a robbery and hijacking only, some get killed because of a family related matter (father kills wife and daughter and then himself for example). There is this perception that 50 people get killed ONLY as a result of robberies and hijackings.

OK, back on topic then. Broadband issues have become a major debilitating factor in... Oh, woops, wrong section!

Skinner - where be them suggestions or am I on ignore still?
