Best deals in town

So many 'deals' available with conditions -
° Cybersmart nightrider requires you to rent the line from them too and isn't available to 4Mbps users.
° Vodacom is - eh - vodacom and blackberry only.
° Nashua charge R1249.00 for 4Mbps with 10gb cap!! EISH!!!
My 4Mbps line costs R413 and 10Gb from Webafrica is R490 = total R903 - that's R350 cheaper and I'm not tied to one supplier. In fact, above 3Gb, Nashua charge you R100 per gig - basically using you to cross subsidise the cheaper packages. Man Nashua are EXPENSIVE at that end.
° Neotel doesn't exist in most of the country.

*sigh*

I think the article is about specific products from specific companies, not the company's products in general.

all these deals have little conditions attached to them

Everything in telecoms in South Africa has little conditions attached to it. Doesn't stop them being better deals to squeeze out a few more Rs if you need to.

Nashua may be the cheapest, but their service SUCK !

My mother tried for three months to get her R139 ADSL account activated.
In the end she decided the saving is not worth the effort. She called Telkom and the line was active the next day.

Could add to these:

2/28GB IS from Openweb @ R159pm. Effectively gives you a 30GB local account for R130, plus 2+ Gigs International for R29.

Given that local SAIX bandwdith sells for R10/Gig and upwards,Telkom Internet's current promotion of 10Gb of free local bandwdith per 1GB of regular bandwidth is as sweet a deal for consumers as it is unethical to their competition.

That isn't a catch for the R139 deal? Those prices are also for unshaped bandwidth, so if you worked it out from WebAfrica again I'm sure it would be more expensive unshaped. Too bad they don't do shaped though. :(

Are you sure that you will always be tied to Nashua with their other packages? I think buying your own router will be an option.

For the blackberry e-mail contract, the following condition is written:
"2. Data usage for Internet browsing, using the BlackBerry Internet browser, is unlimited when browsing on-device and is included in the monthly BlackBerry subscription. When using a BlackBerry device as a tethered modem, customers will have to use the internet APN (Access Point Name) and will be billed in accordance with their prevailing tariff plan. Click here for Vodacom's data tariffs."
and for the blackberry e-mail+ contract, the following condition is written:
"2. Data usage for Internet browsing using the BlackBerry Internet browser is unlimited and included in the monthly BlackBerry subscription."

So does that mean, that on the e-mail+ you can surf the web on your PC too?

Guys, be aware with Nashua Mobile that their modems are locked. This would normally prevent you from using other service providers for top-ups, but some of the other forum members have found a way to unlock the modems. Just fo a search on Nashua Mobile and you will find the other thread that will give you the necessary info.

With the ability to unlock the Nashua Mobile deal becomes more attractive as you would then pay R139 for your line, modem and 1GB and you have the freedom to choose who you want to use as top-up.
