I have been using vista for more than a year.I posted many topics about my errors and bad experiences i was getting.Bsods weekly no real uptime.Got lots of advice from forumites from this forum a used them accordingly.
Vista is truthfully wonderful :D.So many ppl post topics on how bad it is and xp is the killa.
Well going back to xp i will not.I have finally changed all xp to vista on my laptop and desktops.I have deleted my triple boot systems and dual booted my options to vista business and ultimate.Business for games and ultimate to catch on k@K and mess with it:).

Its true what teraside( i think its him) said.He said that the OS is only as bad as the drivers and incompatible hardware there is.
I have changed all my hardware on my test pc and vista has been running fine for 4 days,I even played games and loaded non signature drivers and still no bsods.:D
Basically this weekend i tried my best to make it crash but it wont.
Now i am satisfied, finally.
Ms you can bring on windows7, i am ready for you and your problems.
ps...add your 5c/dont troll on linux/be gentle with me

And, how much did your licensing cost you?
My biggest complaint is that I get zero extra functionality, and at that cost, why should I?
My second complaint is that there does not seem to be a version that can match the functionality I'm used to with XP Pro.

:eek::cool::rolleyes:

Still doesn't help me with the cost factor. I don't have the cash (R6000.00 +) to upgrade all of my machines. That is what is currently prohibiting me. That is also not including the hardware upgrades (RAM and HDD) to be able to run it smoothly. :(

No Vista for me yet... maybe when they start giving it away for free (yeah right!)

BTW, what is the difference now between the ultimate and the next best version of Vista? Ultimate was supposed to have all these cool add-ons which have yet to materialize. So why spend the extra cash on it?

I can emphatise with your experiences with Vista. I also felt the same way.

However I must admit that I was not keen on constantly trying to figure out why it crashed on me for no apparent reason, etc, etc.

Vista looks and feels great but it did not work for me ---- I ended up working for it.

Ever since moving back to XP Pro , life has been great. Now I get to use my monster, without having to worry that it will crash on me or be so damn sluggish.

my R0.02 ...

Vista... It's going to be like Windows 2000... I skipped it :D
More people skipped Windows Me instead. But yes, Vista will be skipped by a lot of people since Windows 7 will arrive in 2/3 years anyway.

I had Vista, then downgraded to XP Pro due to drivers not being available (at the time). However, I'm reluctant to upgrade to Vista again because it does not seem to have any genuine lifechanging advantages over XP anyway. On top of that XP is running fine. As a rule if I had to buy Vista, it will always be Vista Business since it includes the XP Pro licence. Just in case. ;)

Installing Vista on my current machine is kinda pointless. But if I were to buy a new PC and had to choose Vista or XP I would go with Vista.

Vista sucks because it's overpriced, if it were priced fairly then it would be a decent OS.

Yea dobee i agree.

The only problems i have ever had with vista since the beta has been driver related and some old programs don't run on it. Other than those 2 things vista works flawlessly.

There was a time when i wanted to give up on vista with my Firefox problem,in the end it was the mozzilla's code at fault.Vista owners thats not tech savvy,i really feel for you and it can be a pain, but in the end only 2 things stands in your way
1-driver compatiblity
2-hardware.

I will be wary of hardware that says vista capable.
