hi guys, i want to buy the sony ericsson m600i phone. Is there anyone that has the same phone? Is it a good phone? any problems? I did google - but i would like to get some info of ppl who has first hand experience with this phone. Any help would be highly appreciated! thank you!:)

I had it for a while and intentionally lost it. The buttons are way too tricky to get right and the touch screen is kark. I would recommend you steer clear TBH. I hated mine with a passion...

Hi, thanks guys. Waaib, i did go to that website - but i wanted to know of people who has one, and has used it - to give comments. DJK - why do you say the touch screen is kark? buttons are tricky? Small or what? Sorry to be a pain. :)

If you look at the phone pad you will notice that the keys control different letters depending on which corner of the actual button you touch. It sucks. It is awful! The touchscreen was flimsy and not accurate and the stylus kept popping out. The phone software kept freezing as well. It was my worst experience with a phone TBH...

i had one and loved it

upgraded to p1i

djk ... i dunno how u had susch a bad experience ...

Newb-lite - did you also encounter problems like freezing etc?

The keys are kark. It was sold to me as a business phone which was the intended use. It is not a business phone, it is very difficult to use IMO...

No worries. The site has a reviews section. Lots of people post their comments there.

Hmmm, i can get a sweet deal - and as i am waiting for the iPhone 3G, i dont want to spend so much money. I just really want a touch screen phone - and this one seems to be ok - but now DJK put some serious doubts. I will gladly also like to hear from other people? thanks and sorry for the double posting of the thread!!

I figured there may have been some helpful response over there Niccia, but I was wrong ;)

No problems, i will wait for a few more comments before deciding to get one! thanks Kayvee for the effort and assitance - much appreciated :)

i didnt get the freezing problem.

The p1i is the newer version though , and is alot better.

The P1i is BASED on the M600i. They fixed a lot of things: the M600i was notorious for its poor performance, so they bumped up the memory.

There really is only one reason to buy it instead of the P1i: price. If you can get the M600i for R1000 (on prepaid, no strings attached), that's quite a bargain, but don't expect too much from it.

The M600i is end-of-life, so don't expect much in terms of software updates. Also, if you have a Mac, some people have reported problems with synchronising the phone with their computer. If this is important to you, look elsewhere.

Regarding the keypad, the two-sided buttons are a hassle to get used to, but once you do, they aren't too bad. I often use a friend's P1i, and they really could have done worse (W950i)

Thanks sn3rd!! I will get a memory card! its only until the iphone comes out! and yes, R1000 is quite a nice deal! Ill sell it in September for R800 - when i get the iphone :)
have a great weekend!

me too. It wasn't perfect, but it wasn't as bad as he's making out. the keys are fine once you're used to it and the touch screen works fine. I still use mine as a backup phone.

thanks for all the posts. appreciate the advice and comments. ok, im getting the m600i - up until the iPhone comes out :)

have a FAB weekend all!!
