More rough than diamond

Ye it a nice looking phone and at 1st looks good.. but i donno after all the review ive read doesnt seem to be such a great phone..

I have the HP iPAQ 614c which is supposed to be the equivalent of the HTC Tytn II.

But I must say I agree with the reviewer... Windows Mobile 6 is a disappointment. I was hoping that it would be the solution to all my connectivity desires, but the interface is clunky and dis-intuitive and having to use the Stylus all the time is a major pain.

I am hoping to test drive an iPhone and see if that attracts me, but I am scared all of the lacking features there too will also drive me off.

My next phone upgrade will then be either another Nokia Symbian, or a Google Android phone if one is available by then.

Scratch Windows Mobile 6 off my list.

Even after having installed and tried out 3 other customised versions on Windows on my Touch it remained sluggish, probably due to the puny processor. The vanilla Windows installation isn't all that great, the load times for the interface, like the Call screen and waiting after you end a call, is just horrible.

The Diamond has a CPU that's almost 3 times as fast so it could be worth a look.. there are a few newer customised versions of WM6 out that could be worth a try. Nothing like installing a new OS on your phone

Touch Diamond

i can't agree more with the comments about the battery life and the difficult to use windows mobile... i had mine delivered to me on a thursday afternoon and i asked them to come collect it again first thing monday morning.. it barely made it to 13h00 before the battery went vrek. also silly little things i found annoying like the fact that you can't allocate specific ring tones to certain people and the fact you can't forward sms's either.. stoopid but annoying things  i have a biult in car kit and trying to keep them synched was a nightmare... as was trying to access the contacts list while driving to, voice commands didn't work.. all in all, it was a big let down as i had been really looking forward to having a very capable phone...

I honestly don't get the problem with Windows Mobile. I guess some people just love using things that are extremely simple to use. I, on the other hand, like a bit of complication. It results in it taking longer for me to get bored of a phone.

Hmmm I was gonna get one of these. Not anymore lol. Thanks for the heads up. :)

You can forward SMS's(select reply->forward), you can turn off the screen.

My problem is WM6, extremely slow OS, and not quite "user friendly".

I don't see that option on my HP when I hit "reply"

Why would they put the "forward" option under "reply"?

I can turn the backlight off on my HP, I can set the length of time the backlight is on, I can set the brightness ... but I can't work with the backlight off.

The other thing that peeves me is clearing or handling multiple e-mail messages. You would think that Outlook in Windows Mobile 6 would be much more flexible... you can't multi-select messages (only clear the entire mailbox).

...and if you don't have an e-mail account set up on your phone... but you synch your e-mail messages... there is no way to clear the entire folder in one go... you have to go into and delete each message manually.

There is also no "close program" button in each program. Clicking the OK button only suspends the program, it does not exit it. You have to download a thirdy party app to exit programs.

With the above comments in mind, which phone would be the best substitute for a pc?

I really don't think the reviewer and I have the same machine -- and I have an HTC Touch Diamond. There are a whole number of factual inaccuracies/errors in the report (it can't be called a review).

Edit: Just seen this. Best European Smart Phone 2008/9.

I think the Diamond will be difficult for anyone who's used to Nokia or any other non-windows phone. I struggled when I got my first HTC but now I won't use anything but Windows Mobile.

And even though I don't have one, I reckon the Diamond is an awesome phone. As soon as I can afford it, I'll definitely be getting myself one

I don't get it - slow ui response.

most of these phones cost way more than a quad core, and it only needs to display on a tiny screen of 350x250 or whatever, but yet it's still slow...

what MHz are these chips??
