ISP for Unshaped over WiMax

A friend of mine is getting WiMax and his current ISP (Vanilla) is unsure whether they can support WiMax so I'd like to know which ISP will be good for an online gamer over WiMax? IE an Unshapped account.
 
As far as i know telkom do not resell their wimax service as is done with adsl, i.e. if you are looking at telkom the answer is TelkomInternet
 
You can use any ADSL ISP, WIMAX is basically last mile wireless ADSL. The only difference is that you don't have to use a router, you can go straight into your onboard lan and set up a PPPOE connection........;)


As for gaming, I use a shaped SAINET account and it works just fine. here are some pings.


Pinging www.saix.net [196.25.1.200] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 196.25.1.200: bytes=32 time=61ms TTL=252
Reply from 196.25.1.200: bytes=32 time=46ms TTL=252
Reply from 196.25.1.200: bytes=32 time=62ms TTL=252
Reply from 196.25.1.200: bytes=32 time=62ms TTL=252

Ping statistics for 196.25.1.200:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 46ms, Maximum = 62ms, Average = 57ms

Nope, you can use any ADSL ISP.

AFAIK the ISP does not even have to know that you use WiMax. To them it is a 512k line.

I get the same and I am using WA. Don't think unshaped will be beter... :confused:
 
:confused: What line rental you talking about:confused:. Yes we do pay line rental, or at least I do, but that had nothing to do with the question here....

As answered by myself and Pilgrim, the point is, any ADSL service provider can be used.

Maybe at some point they will allow the resale of WIMAX, but for now they don't:rolleyes:
 
Hi I am clueless with all this teminology, re: connecting wirelessley?? i dont know which is the best way to go i.e. which service provider? what do I need? i have a desktop computer and a laptop, need to connect to both, and have mobile connection, when travelling?? HOW BlOnDe am I??
