Just a heads up - if you have a debranded version of any of the two phones, a new FW version is available on NSU, with lots of bugfixes and improvements.

Thanks for the heads up.
After waiting for months, the previous version (21) is still not available for my mtn n95. Looks like they gave on firmware upgrades, no choice but to change the product code.

I like the theme. Its a nice change.

So far ive noticed the Maps application had a face lift. Rotate works nicely. I still want to get my hands on a change log.

Yeah upgraded mine too....had to change the region code too, pretty basic.
Has anyone changed the code back to SA region?

ive upgraded three times in the past and always changed it back, this is the first time I havnt because I just felt.. whats the point.

It is perfectly safe to go back to the SA region code after update if you backed up using the Nokia PC Suites update function. Problem comes in with the actual phone backups restore function.

Bricks the phone.

So is 'rotate' part of the new firmware? Will do upgrade tomorrow morning, did anyone backup and restore successfully?

Yep
Did a full backup (except memory card files) with pc suite and restored it again with no problems so far

And i had the v20 firmware, so there shouldnt be a problem if u are upgrading from v21

yeah its part of it :) I did a backup and restore via the Nokia PC Suite

And everything is running all smooth and sweet for you?

Last restore I did, it slowed down the device drastically! Will get back to you tomorrow and let you know how it all went...

I'm wondering if the backup/restore will wipe out all my applications...

I experienced a slow down at first as well, but soon figured out that is was my theme. I changed it to one of the default nseries themes and its now super fast :D
Much faster than i've ever experienced in all of a year and a half with the phone

Also, i normally uninstall all apps on the memory card first, then re-install them after the upgrade. All apps installed on your phone are always wiped out

Yah I also formatted my memory card first.

I just noticed something
When i did my backup, upgrade, restore from v20 to v30 my apps that were installed on the phone were wiped out as expected, its always been that way.

But i had to re-install the v30 firmware coz i messed up my phone, and did the normal backup, upgrade, restore and then i noticed all my apps were also restored with all the settings and stats i had before.

Its exactly like how it was before, even mxit got restored with all my settings :D
