I didn't know much about publishers like EA and Activision and for a good time I didn't care.I always figured The quality of the game is reflected by its developer,as it should be.

But I have come to realise though, that publishers like EA pumps huge amounts of money into the game development cycle ,effectively increasing the the quality of the game and in return they reaps the rewards by means of percentage royalties per sale and monthly subs, to name but a few.

Now this is a double edged sword,if the game is hugely successful they make their money back that was spent on the game many fold, but if it bombs the loss sits entirely on their shoulders.

As of late i have Personally become more great full towards all publishers, they raise the potential that games can live up to by so much more and masterpieces emerge where previously was not possible.

This is all with Regards to Warhammer and the acquisition of Mythic by EA,just think about how the many Great and successful games of today would be without that Financial Backing ,Non-existent.:o

I'm also of the opinion that EA has cheapened the industry. In the 80s/90s there was an entire industry full of ideas, with brilliant games - and lots of small companies making them. Then amalgamations came along, pushing for games that made money quickly (incidentally, about the same time FPS became the big thing) - and to a large extent destroying the landscape as it was. :(

Well... EA will only fund that games that have potential, so, other then that, the other game dev's will just have to take it on themselves, but whats more is that their are companies, like Blizzard that make and publish games.

You see, when you have big companies like EA, you are confined to what they want you to make, which, they seldom want something that's risky, which means, more often then not, you will find that the same idea's just get past around, stagnating...

Blizzard does what they want, which keeps things fresh, and is making them one of the most successful gaming companies...
