Hi guys

I have a HP Color Laserjet 2600n that has a problem called laser scanner contamination where a certain colour won't print because the laser is full of toner

Now i phoned HP and they sent me to Let me Repair a place in midrand, but when i looked them up on the internet i got VERY bad vibes as in most of the page in google said how bad LMR is.

I was thinking of fixing it myself as i have found service manuals and all, and i know i will be able to fix it. but i am REALLY not in the mood for that.

Anyone know of a place in and around pretoria that will fix the printer?

Thanx Allot
Peder

hey guys found the answer yipee!! The printer is working now perfectly since i fixed it myself just took about 2 hours.

4000pages and 2hours service isn't too bad eh?

oh and if anyone has a problem here is the answer http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service...47626+1221679079368+28353475&threadId=1182873

Good heavens bru, did you take the whole printer apart to do that? It does sound like it if you have to get to the scanner an mirrors. That sounds like a major work project.

Another question. Ain't you still in school?

yeah i took the whole printer apart, but it only took me 2hours to fix so it wasn't that bad

And yes i'm still in school, why you ask?

I admire you, while I could most probably do it and save the school about a couple hundred bucks, I neither have the time nor the inclination to do it when it will only save my school a couple of hundred bucks.

do you live in SA?

Well now at least you know what its called, Laser Scanner contamination, a few specs of toner sit on the mirror, (which you can't even see) and thats what makes the toner not want to work.

Can't you blow it out with a high-power blower without having to disassemble the whole printer?

Yes, I am a South African guy.

well i try, although something i can fix is FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR more interesting than schoolwork, although yeah i think i do well at school :)

Nope, you just move the specks around, thats what i was told.

OK, I bow before your superior knowledge. :D

Thanks anyway, you confirmed that I've made the correct choice in sending the printer away to be fixed. Because even though I might have been able to clean it, it would have have taken me the whole of the afternoon and early evening to do it.

Teachers don't earn more money for overtime. But I would still do it if people would notice my extra work. But nobody notices my extra work so why would I want to put in extra work if I don't get extra money or even slight recognition for it?
