Details emerge about Telkom’s mobile plans

It's a PRICE war... nothing else... and that will govern it...

Exactly... what's the point having 10 different ways to connect and it still costs and arm and a leg (And some fingers)

i lack words to say what i think of this

The fixed-line operator is investing R1,7bn in the new wireless network.
Sounds kinda low to me. How much did VC/MTN invest in their 3g infrastructure?

thrilling, so Telkom are going to deploy CDMA when they couldnt get WiMax right after 2 years of offering it to clients. monkeys..........

No not quite.. wimax was seen as replacement for adsl only. 3G line is very different. 2ndly I wonder how big a % of the mobile network they outsourcing, remember this is the new way to do it and they are trying to reduce their reliance on staff/growing staff numbers. Also Any mention of whom the equipment manufacturers they going with??

Much (MUCH) more than that, but I doubt if Telkom's idea is to put thousands of 3G towers out there. They'll probably first try and cover specific critical areas where it makes sense. A bit like the WiMax network we're building for iBurst.

i wonder if i can get wimax adsl for my flat
