Golden Age for TV beckons

... and in South Africa we are still stuck in the stone age of television :(

I can't even watch a 320 x 240 (or whatever) youtube video without it stopping to buffer with the very latest vodacom 3g...so I doubt if we'll soon be watching tv on the net...

The step before..

We download, share and watch. Better than waiting for everything. Bit better than old VCR days when we had to swop a big tape for 3 hours of viewing. My portable 320GB keeps tons of stuff.

Been stuffing around with streaming from my pc to my WM6 phone(wifi), with mild success. Now if only I could do that online, and afford it:-)

The big Stumbling Block will still be DRM.
A lot of sites, especially BBC and ITV, are not allowed to stream outside the UK, which is a bit silly for BBC world service, but is tied up by unions, agents etc.
I have had good success streaming live TV with LiveStation.com which is great to catch the news, but has no entertainment channels.

It's because it's 3g. You'll get better viewing using adsl 384k.

I'll stick with my downloaded series, sport I watch at the pub (so much better like that anyways ain't it)? Dont see the point in paying R550 a month for channel's I'll never even watch, and don't consider SABC tv..no it's more of a cruel propagandistic joke..but ok Tv has one true goal at my house...Wii. But got to love youtube..

That may be true, but taking into account that when I phoned telkom about 3 months ago to order a new line, they couldn't tell me if I could get a line, they instructed me to go from door to door and ask people living in my area if any one of them had a phone line, and if I found somebody with a line, to call them back... By the way, I'm staying just outside of Bloemfontein in a posh area... so alas, I went with 3g.
